Today I want to discuss on "Rutucharya" - Regimen to follow in different Rutus ( seasons ) of year.
As we all know we fall prey to different kind of diseases in different seasons ; Likewise in summer season there is increase in cases of kidney stones, in rainy season there is increase in pain of arthritis patients, in winter there is rise in cold and flu patients.
Thus when season changes, there is impact on human bodies. In Ayurveda, the time at which season changes (for example from summer to rainy and rainy to winter) is called as "Rutusandhikal".
"Rutusandhikal" is also important in consideration of disease developmemt.
Ayurveda has considered following 6 Rutus in one year and advocated different Regimen for every Rutu ;
Hemant
Shishir
Wasant
Greeshma
Varsha
Sharad
For sake of convenience if we consider English calender then every rutu will have two months in it.
1.Hemant :- November,December
2.Shishir :- Janaury,February
3.Wasant :- March,April
4.Greeshma:- May,June
5.Varsha:- July,August
6.Sharad:- September,October
We will further merge Two Rutus and will give Regimen to follow in every Season so it can be helpful to avoid seasonal diseases, thus;
Hemant & Shihir = Winter season
Wasant & Grishma =Summer season
Warsha & Sharad = Rainy season.
Also Harada/ Haritaki is medicine which can be used in different seasons with different Anupan.
This is the concept of "Rutu Haritaki"( Haritaki in every season)stated in Ayurveda.
Anupan is substance which is to be taken after drug administration. So we will discuss how we can use Haritaki in every season to prevent diseases.
